UNITED NATIONS OCEAN CONFERENCE, NICE

From June 2 to June 13, 2025, Nice, France, became a focal point for Europe as it hosted the Third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3). The conference began with a civil society event called “We are the Ocean” from June 2, followed by three special UN events held from June 3 to June 8. Many of our partners were able to attend the scheduled events, which featured presentations, poster displays, panel discussions, and extensive networking opportunities. Overall, this provided a valuable opportunity for participants to share and exchange knowledge and ideas, as well as to discuss challenges facing our oceans and to focus on sustainable solutions to address these needs and concerns.

Let’s talk about Marine Biodiversity

One of the main events was held at the EU Digital Ocean Pavilion, an interactive and immersive exhibition space, during the 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3). This initiative showcased the European Union’s commitment to knowledge, monitoring, and innovation related to the oceans, providing an engaging experience for visitors from around the globe.

During this event, Antonio Novellino partner from ETT presented the OLAMUR project in a TEDx talk titled “One Ocean, Many Uses: Low-Trophic Aquaculture for a Sustainable Future.” In his talk, Antonio highlighted how the OLAMUR project, in collaboration with industry partners, is exploring effective solutions and best practices to address biodiversity challenges. This work focuses on marine protected areas, sustainable fisheries, and coastal restoration. Participation in the European Digital Ocean Pavilion was a significant recognition of OLAMUR’s research and development efforts. To learn more, click the button below to view the recorded session.
