BULGARIA: OLAMUR for Black Sea

Achievements so far: –

  •  A Living Lab has been successfully established and is operational.
  • The Living Lab is currently engaged in discussions and negotiations regarding the types of data to be collected, shared, and reported to serve the needs of both project objectives and external stakeholders.
  • Key barriers to the upscale of low trophic aquaculture in Bulgaria have been identified, with a focus on market and value chain limitations, regulatory complexity, and technical capacity gaps. The project team is currently preparing a structured report addressing these issues.
  • A dedicated meeting is planned between 27th and 30th of July with representatives of the FAO/GFCM – Black Sea working team, during which the identified barriers will be discussed in detail.
  • The meeting is expected to focus on collaborative approaches to overcoming these barriers, including potential technical support, policy recommendations, and regional cooperation mechanisms under the framework of the GFCM 2030 Strategy.
  • It is also planned to make informational materials for the purposes of the OLAMUR’s communication activities.
